VOTING & VOLUNTEERING INFORMATION

How to register to vote in Beaufort County.

To vote on the referendum, you must be officially registered with the Board of Voter Registration and Elections of Beaufort County (843-255-6900).

The last day you can register in person at a voter registration office will be Friday, October 4.  You can register by e-mail, fax or online any time prior to 11:59 p.m. Saturday, October 5, or by U.S. Mail if postmarked by Saturday, October 5.  Voter registration forms are also available online.

How to know if you are already registered in Beaufort County?

The South Carolina Board of Elections has a wonderful website SCVotes.org, known as “Every Vote Counts, Every Vote Matters”. Click this link to find it:   https://www.scvotes.org/

On the website you can enter your name and address in the Search Bar for Beaufort County, and it will inform you if you are registered as well as what precinct you live in and where the voting will take place on November 5.

At the poll you will need either your  Voter Registration Card or your Driver’s License.

When and how do I vote on the referendum?

The referendum vote will occur on Tuesday, November 5. Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at precinct locations throughout Beaufort County. To find out your precinct location you can either call the Board of Voter Registration and Elections of Beaufort County (843-255-6900) or visit the website SCVotes.org described above.

 What if I will be out of town on November 5?

Absentee ballots are available at the Board of Voter Registration and Elections of Beaufort County (15 John Galt Road) and Bluffton (61B Ulmer Road).  The Beaufort office is open Monday-Friday from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m.  The Bluffton office will be open Wednesdays from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m., but after September 4 the Bluffton office will be open Monday-Friday.  .

HOW TO VOLUNTEER FOR OUR GRASS ROOTS COMMITTEE

The Citizens for Better Schools Now! committee will be needing a variety of volunteers in the 8 weeks leading up to the election to include making phone calls, handing out materials, sending emails et cetera.  If this is something where you think you would like to participate, please email either of our two co-chairpersons: Debbie Rayman (debbierayman@yahoo.com) or Shannon Bedenbaugh (sbedenbaugh@sc.rr.com) and they will be in touch with you to discuss your availability and specific interests.
